Where to Begin

When a death occurs, call Donnellan Family Funeral Services at (847) 675-1990. Our Funeral Directors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you. We will explain the necessary steps that apply to you and your loved one at that time. We will also schedule an arrangement conference to discuss your funeral service needs.


What Takes Place During the Arrangement Conference?

  • Schedule the services and events (including the location, date, time, and celebrant)
  • Select a casket, urn, or other products associated with selected services
  • Draft and publish death notices/obituaries on our website or any newspaper
  • Compile photographs for notices, printed materials, and slideshow
  • Accept clothing
  • Submit veteran's discharge papers (DD-214) for military honors & benefits, if applicable
  • File Insurance policy information, if applicable
  • Collect vital information to complete the official death certificate:
       Vital Information
    • Full legal name and legal residence
    • Social security number
    • Date of birth
    • Place of birth (city and state)
    • Father's name
    • Mother's name (including maiden)
    • Highest education
    • Occupation
    • Information about the burial location if applicable
